The National Service Scheme (NSS) was started in the Indira Gandhi Government College, Tezu in the year 1988 with 50 Volunteers and 1 Program Officer with an aim to render community service in and around the college. Since then, the NSS Unit has been involved in innumerable activities for the welfare of the society. At present the College has 2 units with 200 volunteers in each unit. The NSS Units are looked after by 2 Program Officer namely Mr. L. Kimsing(Asst. Proff.) and Mr. C. Namchoom (Asst. Proff.) with active guidance from the principal of the College.

Like every session, during 2017-18-19 also, the NSS Unit of IGG College organized and took part in many activities the whole session round. Following are the highlights.

  1. Nss Unit volunteers took part in the Disaster Management Program demonstrated by the NDRF team of 24.07.17 in the College Auditorium.

  2. The volunteers took part in the General Social Service on 21.07.17 and 03.08.17 as part of Regular Activity.

  3. Along with the whole country the NSS Unit volunteers also took part in the successful completion of the “SWACHHTA HI SEWA” fortnight, which was observed from 15.09.17 to 02.10.17. During the fortnight, many social service were conducted in and around the College Campus.

  4. The Nss Unit organized a meeting to observe Rashtriya Ekta Divas to mark the Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on 31.10.17 in the College.

  5. Apart from all the above Regular Activities, the NSS Unit of the Indira Gandhi Government College, Tezu, under leadership of the Unit program Officer and active patronage of the Principal conducted a 2-day Special Camp on 29.03.18 and 31.03.18 at Duraliang Village.

  6. The College NSS Unit successfully conducted the District Level Youth Parliament at the College on 28.01.19 and three participants were selected to represent the State Level program.

  7. The NSS Unit organized an Awareness Campaign on Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) in collaboration with the District Unit of Urban Development and Housing Department on 08.02.19 in the College.
