Assamese Language, Literature and Culture are the basic compulsory courses that have been included in the Core (Major/Minor) and compulsory subject of Assamese in UG level. These courses will enlighten the Major students with a collective concept of the evolution and nature of Assamese Language, literature and Culture throughout different phases of time. Moreover, students will be able to get knowledge on Comparative Literature.
Through the courses related with language and linguistics, students will be introduced to different linguistic groups of the globe along with different aspects of language and linguistics. In the same way the courses assigned for the Major students, about Assamese culture, will provide knowledge pertaining to the origin and nature of cultures of different ethnic groups of Assam. Along with the rich cultural history of Assam, students will be able to learn the grammatical aspects of Assamese literature which will enhance their writing skills without errors. The inclusion of the discussion on Assamese Prose and Poetry, Assamese scripts etc in the core courses will enhance the knowledge of the students on the History of Assamese Prose & Poetry. Apart from Assamese language & Literature, students will also be introduced to Indian Literature and World Literature.
